2026-02 Forum Updates

Updates on progress here:

Forum moved to forum.overlandpeople.com

Formerly camp.overlandpeople.com. I was having some challenges communicating this space, “forum” is simpler than “camp.” If you added the app to your phone, you may want to delete the old icon and re-add to Home Screen (although I don’t believe this is necessary). You may need to re-enable notifications (the forum should notify you). This kind of a change won’t happen again. No broken links, everything redirects properly.

More emoji reactions enabled

Jeep and Toyota jokes have started flying. Using a  to emoji react isn’t always appropriate… so a few more were added. I particularly wanted to  in an emoji response.

In Progress

  1. Still dialing in some areas, many folks have contributed to testing various parts of the system. Overall, I’m really liking it. Thank you all for continued testing/reports/any odd issues.
  2. I’m dialing in workflows for hosting Rigs & Brunch events and trip planning. We’ve got a group live right now for trip planning. Once I get this sorted a bit more, I’ll share more on how others can start gauging interest for trips. Fun to watch interest for Baja Mexico trip run here.
  3. I have more thought son the vision of this space and where this is going. I plan to share more on that soon. In the interim, this space will remain invite only. Intent is signal versus noise here, quality discussion/conversation.
  4. Really fun to watch thoughtful intros here. I value thoughtful participation (it’s what makes this space great). I’ve been on 6+ trips with Hoa and hadn’t talked with him in person about some of the elements he highlighted here in his intro.
  5. I’m starting to invite more people (I’ve got various folks spread across Facebook, Instagram, and dozens in my email inbox/text messaging from events I’ve hosted around the country.

I originally didn’t want to do a forum – I fought this for years. Partly because I want to use technology to get offline, not to use a forum to cause people to spend more time behind a computer screen. The aim here is to convene, then get offline on trips and/or Rigs & Brunch events and share learnings.

If anyone is looking for anything specific in their overlanding world, do let me know either publicly or privately so I can continue to curate a space that serves us well.

I did the app delete and readded by using “Download to Home Screen” and it worked fine by replacing “camp” with “forum.” Before I did that, I used the original one and it worked just fine. I just figured downloading the new one helps “futureproof” things for me. Thanks for all the hard work you are putting into this. I know it’s not easy!
